Thanks

Welcome to the MS Poker Web Page. First of all I want to say thank you to all of the sponsors, volunteers, and especially the participants who have made the previous MS Poker tournaments successful. With your help, we've donated over $28,000 to the National MS Society over the past six years!! Your continued generous support gives my family hope that our efforts will eventually lead to a cure to this horrible disease.

Another Fall, another great MS Poker Invitiational. Thanks again to everybody who helped make this event a success. With all of the entries and a few additional donations, we raised over $2,500 for the National MS Society! What a great day! I hope everyone had fun, as we raised money for a great cause. Thank you very much to everyone who played. Thank you to Sally, Lisa, and Laurie for dealing for us, and thank you to Lee and Michelle for picking up our food. Thanks to Becca for getting drinks for everyone (except for Tim of course). And thanks again to our food sponsors as well:

Tournament Highlights and Results

Highlights

This year, we had another great group of serious players. The game started at 3pm and ended slightly before 11pm. There was some exciting poker leading up to the first break. Table 3 learned that pocket Queens never win (note the queens in air in the pic below), and Drew decided to set a new record for Rebuys at Table 1 - hey it's for Charity ;-)

As usual everyone was very generous with rebuys and add-ons - and the pot grew very large by the time we made it into the elimination rounds. Being the good host, I re-affirmed my grasp on the first-out trophy for the second time this year, by being first out of the 2010 invitational (thanks SANDY ;-P). But there were a handful of other players that quickly followed my exit.

First Out

Final Table and Results

There were definitely a lot of gasps and groans this year, as going all-in with the best hand appeared to be the losing strategy, as time and time again, the river was cruel to players on the edge. By the end of our second break we were down to 11 players, and within a few minutes we had a final table. There was quite a bit of experience on the final table. In fact there were three players who had placed in the top five of the big tournament this spring, plus we had one returning champion, Drew, looking to add another trophy to his collection.

Final Table

Big stacks shifted around and eventually the final four players struggled to see who could outlast each other on the bubble. Eventually an ill timed maneuver cost Branca a spot in the top three, and then Rich fought hard with his short stack before eventually leaving the final table in third place. During head's up play Cindy worked her way up to even stacks with Steve before both found hands that they liked, and in went the chips.

Thanks again to all of our donors and players, and congrats to Rich and Cindy for placing, and Congratulations to our newest MS Poker Champion, Steve Blomberg.
